Dorothy M. BrennanDorothy M. Brennan 103, Rochester, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at Life Care Center of Rochester.

She was born on July 12, 1912, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Frank M. and Laura May (Viers) Dukes.

She married William J. Brennan in Chicago, Ill., and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Mrs. Brennan had worked for many years in Chicago at Stella’s Dress Shop and Montgomery Ward. During World War II, she worked in manufacturing to help with the war effort. She had been an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and while residing in Birmingham, Ala., she was a dedicated volunteer at the Veterans’ Hospital. In her spare time she was a prolific reader, often reading large novels in a day or two, or belonging to the local library reading program.

Survivors include her son: Edward Shull, Canton, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son: Donald Shull; five sisters; two brothers; and great-grandson: Daniel Shull.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Citizens Cemetery, Rochester, with Rev. Rod Ruberg officiating.
