INDIANAPOLIS – It seems like the baseball and softball seasons just started for several programs. The IHSAA reminded everyone that May will fly by in revealing its tournament brackets Sunday evening for the baseball and softball state tournaments.

The IHSAA did not specify exact dates and times for the sectional draws, just open dates for the sectional windows. Those dates and times will be released in the coming days by the host schools.

Softball (May 24-29)

IFN coverage area teams are spread around in four different sectionals in three different counties.

At Northridge in the Class 4-A tournament, Warsaw is part of a five-teamer that will play on the new turf fields in Middlebury. The Tigers open up against Goshen, with Elkhart waiting for the winner. The host Raiders will get rival Concord in the other semi-final.

The Northridge champion will advance to visit the Penn sectional champion in the one-game regional.

At Jimtown in the Class 3-A tournament, West Noble and NorthWood open up play in the five-team grid. The host Jimmies will get that winner. Lakeland and Wawasee will play in the second semi-final.

The Jimtown champion will advance to host the Angola sectional champion in the one-game regional.

At Wabash in the Class 2-A tournament, the six-team tourney saw bitter rivals Tippecanoe Valley and Rochester draw the bye game, serving as the second semi-final. Wabash and Cass, and Whitko and Manchester will wage battle on the other half of the bracket.

The Wabash champion will advance to host the Delphi sectional champion in the one-game regional.

At South Central Union Mills in the Class 1-A tournament, Triton draws Culver game two of the six-team layout. South Central and Argos play in game one, with the two winners meeting in one of the semi-finals. The other semi-final will see either South Bend Career Academy or LaCrosse come out of it for the championship round.

The South Central champoion will advance to visit the Westville sectional champion in the one-game regional.

Semi-states are at Lafayette Harrison (4A), Twin Lakes (3A), LaVille (2A) and Frankfort (1A).

Baseball (May 27-31)

IFN coverage area teams are located in three different sectionals.

At Northridge in the Class 4-A tournament, Warsaw drew the bye and will get rival Northridge in the semi-finals of the six-team layout. Goshen v. Penn and Elkhart v. Concord are on the other half of the bracket.

The Northridge champion will advance to the LaPorte regional to meet the Plymouth sectional champion in the four-team regional.

At Wawasee in the Class 3-A tournament, Jimtown and Tippecanoe Valley open play in the six-team field, followed by Lakeland and Wawasee. Those two winners will meet in the first semi-final, with West Noble and NorthWood meeting in the second semi-final.

The Wawasee champion will advance to the Bellmont regional to meet the Bellmont sectional champion in the four-team regional.

At LaCrosse in the Class 1-A tournament, Triton and Oregon-Davis drew the bye game and meet in the semi-final. South Central and Culver, and LaCrosse and Argos will open the tournament on the other half.

The South Central champion will advance to the South Bend Washington regional to meet the Washington Township sectional champion in the four-team regional.

Semi-states are at either LaPorte or Kokomo.
