Culver Man Flown From Motorcycle Accident In Marshall County

RUTLAND — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after hitting a deer early Tuesday morning in Marshall County.

Indiana State Police troopers responded to the crash on Nutmeg Road around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, Preliminary investigation by Trooper Todd Schuh indicates Michael Reece, 71, Culver, was riding a green and black 1997 Harley Davidson south on Nutmeg Road, just north of 16th Road, when he hit a deer.

Reece lost control of the motorcycle after this collision and slid before coming to a rest.

Reece was taken by Argos EMS to a waiting Samaritan helicopter that took him to a Fort Wayne hospital. He suffered injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening.

Reece was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
