Hydrant Flushing Begins In City Of Warsaw

News Release

WARSAW — Indiana American Water began flushing water hydrants Tuesday, April 30, and is expected to continue through May 6, according to a news release from the city of Warsaw.

In an earlier news release from Indiana American Water, the utility said hydrant flushing in the Warsaw and Winona Lake area would occur from Monday, April 29, and conclude on or before Wednesday, May 8.

According to the earlier news release from Indiana American Water, no major effects from the hydrant flushing are expected. A temporary drop in system pressure will be localized to a small area around the hydrant being flushed. Some ponding may occur in areas with poor drainage, but this will be minimized as much as possible, according to a news release from Indiana American Water.

If tap water becomes discolored, Indiana American Water recommends allowing several cold-water faucets to run for a short time until the water runs clear. Using more than one faucet allows the water to clear more quickly.

The company conducts the annual hydrant maintenance program to ensure fire hydrants are operational.

All Indiana Department of Environmental Management standards will be followed, according to a news release.
