WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested for allegedly battering a man and child.
Megan Elane Toscano, 41, 4330 N. Old SR 15 Lot 47, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 years of age present and domestic battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, both level 6 felonies; and two counts of domestic battery, both class A misdemeanors.
On April 18, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a welfare check at a Warsaw residence. A person received information about three children wanting to leave the home because Toscano hit someone.
Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy heard yelling and sounds of someone banging against the walls. According to court documents, Toscano was actively in a physical altercation with one of the children and had her arm up near the child’s head. The deputy also noticed Toscano appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
A man at the scene said he and Toscano argued for about three hours. The deputy noticed abrasions, redness, and scratches on the man’s head and neck; scratches on his arms; redness and swelling on his left hip; and a large red abrasion on his left shoulder. The man said Toscano slapped, punched, and scratched him. He told the deputy the three children in the home witnessed the physical altercation.
Toscano also allegedly pinned one of the children against a door while their hands were above their head. She applied pressure to the child’s neck and head area to hold them in that position.
Toscano denied touching the children or the man. While being placed in a police vehicle, Toscano began to yell and curse at the man and children.
The child Toscano battered said Toscano leaned on them against a door face first.
The two other children in the home witnessed Toscano battering the man.
Toscano was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 18.
