WINONA LAKE —Thursday’s National Day of Prayer at the Winona Heritage Room, Winona Lake, focused on praying together.
Master of ceremonies Ken Locke said attendees came together Thursday to pray together. Locke said people were under no pressure to pray openly as a silent prayer is just as moving to the heart of God.
In previous years during Kosciusko County’s National Day of Prayer, there was a keynote speaker and members of the community offered a prayer on a particular subject.
Thursday, May 2, People were gathered in tables at the Winona Heritage Room and prayed together and prayed for praise and thanksgiving; the nation, governments, military and media; families; education; the least, last, lost and vulnerable; and for unity and revival of the church.
Locke said there were spiritual ideas for discussion, as well as guides. Locke said people were welcome to take them with them for their personal devotions.
“Please follow the Holy Spirit’s leading as we humble ourselves before God, the father. This is a time of pursuing Him for renewal and revival,” Locke said. He said it was a time to come together and pray together.
After the prayers, Locke said he sensed they needed God.
“Let every day be a National Day of Prayer,” Locke said. He asked for everyone to pray for peace in Jerusalem and to see goodness in the world through Jesus.
“As it gets darker, let’s get lighter. Darkness can not overcome light,” Locke said.
