WARSAW — An Ohio man was arrested for allegedly fleeing from law enforcement after attempting to break into vehicles in Warsaw.
David Terahn Bruce Thompkins, 32, Cincinnati, Ohio, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and unauthorized entry of a vehicle, a class B misdemeanor.
On April 20, Warsaw Police officers responded to a report of an individual at a business on US 30 who was attempting to break into vehicles. A witness said he saw a man drive into a parking lot, enter a vehicle, and open the glove box. The man, later identified as Thompkins, did not have permission to enter the vehicle.
One of the responding officers found the suspect vehicle and activated his emergency lights and siren.
According to court documents, Thompkins drove away, changed lanes, and began speeding on US 30. During the vehicle pursuit, Thompkins made a derogatory gesture toward the officer, sped up to 80 mph in a 45-mph zone, and disregarded a stop sign. Law enforcement conducted a rolling roadblock in order to stop Thompkins’ vehicle.
Thompkins has already been arrested and released on bond.
