County Commissioner Candidate Event Nets over $1,000 for local youth ag programs

WARSAW — A Meet the Candidate event, Wednesday, May 1, hosted by Nathan Scherer, candidate for county commissioner – northern district, raised over $1,000 for local youth agriculture programs.

While the event promoted civic engagement, it also served a philanthropic purpose. It was through the generous contributions from attendees and supporters, that funds were raised for the youth ag programs, demonstrating a commitment to investing in the future of agriculture and youth development in the community.

“This was a win-win event; anytime you can engage with the public and help a local nonprofit is a good day,” remarked Scherer, highlighting the positive outcomes of bringing people together for meaningful conversations and supporting important community initiatives.

The event was to bring together county residents in a dialogue about the county’s future. Held at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, it was designed to foster open communication and gather insights into the concerns and aspirations of the public.

“We wanted to have an event that was open to the public so we could talk with the people and understand what their concerns are for the county,” said Scherer, emphasizing the importance of grassroots engagement in shaping community policies and priorities.

The event drew an inquisitive crowd, eager to enjoy the BBQ and participate in productive conversations about local issues. Attendees had the opportunity to interact directly with Scherer, discussing a wide range of topics affecting the county and sharing their perspectives.
