Winona Lake Man Arrested For Domestic Battery

WINONA LAKE — A Winona Lake man was arrested for allegedly battering a woman.

John Othie Miller, 38, 903 Roy St., Winona Lake, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On April 27, a Winona Lake Police officer responded to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer spoke with a woman who said a verbal argument with Miller turned physical.

According to court documents, the officer spoke with Miller, who had a black eye and multiple scratches on both arms. In the residence, the officer noticed a flipped-over coffee table and a broken table. Miller said nothing happened.

A responding Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke with the woman, who said Miller smashed a table and flipped a couch over. He then put his arm around the woman’s neck and stuck his fingers down her throat. Miller also allegedly hit the woman’s head against a bag on the floor and punched himself in the face, resulting in a black eye.

Two children were in the residence during the altercation.

Miller was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 27.
