WARSAW — Salon owner Carley Powell now has more space to make her clients look good.

The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce celebrated Powell’s new expanded space for her business Empress Beauty Salon with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday, May 9.

The salon, a new chamber business, is located at 970 N. Lake St., Warsaw.

“Five years ago, I originally started on Winona Avenue located inside (my husband Sage Powell’s business) Empire Ink,” said Powell.

She said she moved next door to that location after a year due to needing to care for her son.

“After being there, we found this location, and we were on one side of the building,” said Carley. Empire Ink also moved to the Lake Street building.

Empress Beauty Salon grew enough that Carley moved the business into the larger part of the building six months ago. She now has five employees.

She said the salon specializes in “blonding and vivid (colors).”

“We do dimensional colors as well,” said Carley. “We also offer extensions and then … treatments, haircuts, styles, formal styles, braiding.”

Salon employees also do nails, lash extensions, waxing and piercings.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday by appointment, with walk-ins also welcomed.

“We welcome everybody in here with open arms,” said Carley. “Everybody who comes, they always turn into family.”

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11, Empress Beauty Salon will have a Mother’s Day event “where we’re going to have five or six vendors, a taco truck here, piercing specials, hair specials, lash specials, nail specials … and chocolate-covered goodies,” she said.
