Syracuse Public Library — Teens Can Find Relaxation At SPL

News Release

SYRACUSE — As the school year approaches its conclusion, teens can relax at the Syracuse Public Library. Teen cafe meets from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each Monday in May within the upstairs Rosalyn Jones Room. During it, teens can choose to color, play games or hang out with new and old friends.

Young adult game night then meets from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. The group will play “Mystic Market,” a fast-paced card game where players buy and sell magical potion-making ingredients. Each month the group explore a new board or card game.

Adult Book Club

During May, the adult book club will read “Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before” by Dr. Julie Smith. Filled with secrets from a therapist’s toolkit, this nonfiction book teaches readers how to fortify and maintain their mental health, even in the most trying of times.

Smith’s expert advice and powerful coping techniques will help readers stay resilient, whether they want to manage anxiety, deal with criticism, cope with depression, build self-confidence, find motivation or learn to forgive themselves.

Copies are available at the library. Readers can also find digital e-book and audio book copies on Libby and Hoopla.

Discussion will occur at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, in the library’s downstairs meeting room. A Zoom discussion will follow at 6 p.m. later that day. For information or a Zoom invitation, email Emilia at [email protected].
