UPDATE — Motorcyclist In Stable, Critical Condition Following Motorcycle Vs. Pickup Truck Accident

SYRACUSE — A motorcyclist was airlifted in stable, but critical, condition, Friday, May 10, following a motorcycle vs. pickup truck accident.

At approximately 6:09 p.m., the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and first responders were dispatched for a motorcycle vs. pick up truck crash at the intersection of North SR 13 and Executive Drive, Syracuse.

“Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located a motorcycle and a pick-up truck involved in the crash,” said a KCSO FACT report. “Preliminary investigation determined a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle was southbound on SR 13 approaching Executive Dr. A 2023 Dodge Ram was on Executive Drive and proceeded to turn north on SR 13, failing to yield to the southbound motorcycle.”

According to the KCSO FACT team report, Denny Koselke, 54, Syracuse, was driving the 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jack Wright, 65, Leesburg, was driving the 2023 Dodge Ram.

Koselke was thrown from his motorcycle following the collision.

Koselke was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of his injuries and listed in stable but critical condition,” said the report. Wright was treated at the scene by Syracuse EMS. 

Assisting at the scene were the Syracuse Police Department, Turkey Creek Fire Territory, Syracuse EMS, North Webster EMS, Department of Natural Resources, Lutheran Air and Reichert & Knepp Wrecker Service.

The accident is under investigation by the KSCO FACT team.
