WARSAW — The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce has announced Terry Sweeney as the new downtown development director for Main Street Warsaw.
Main Street Warsaw is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, formed in 1980, that encourages economic development of Warsaw’s central business district through investments in people, building, businesses and land.
Sweeney has more than 30 years of downtown management and economic development experience. He started his downtown management and development career working 15 years for Indianapolis Downtown Inc. as vice president of real estate development. He played a key role in the revitalization of downtown Indianapolis, where he was involved with more than 400 downtown projects worth more than $8.5 billion.
During his tenure with Indianapolis Downtown Inc., he was also a featured speaker at the National Main Street Conference and Indiana Main Street Regional Conference, International Council of Shopping Centers Regional Conference, Indiana Commercial Real Estate Board Annual Conference and Urban Land Institute Indiana Breakfast Series.
Sweeney went on to become executive director of the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District in Corpus Christi, Texas, and president and chief executive officer of Downtown Lexington Partnership in Lexington, Ky., leading revitalization, strategic planning, development, management, branding and marketing initiatives in those communities.
Sweeney moved back to northeastern Indiana to be closer to family and has been working as project director for Kosciusko Economic Development Corp. since August 2022.

three different cities. His experience in strategic planning, urban place management, economic development, and marketing will help accelerate our downtown revitalization efforts.”

Sweeney is a native of Indianapolis. He is a graduate of Wabash College, completed his Master’s of Public Affairs-Public Management at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, and did a semester program at American University.
