News Release
WINONA LAKE — The 15 annual Blackburn Run 4 Others will take place Saturday, June 15. The event hosts both a 5K run/walk and also a 10K run.
Race-day registration and packet pickup begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race begins at 9 a.m. Registration costs $25 until Sunday, June 2, when it increases to $32.
Both races begin at the Trailhouse Bike Shop in the Village at Winona. The 5K will take place along the paved greenway while the 10K will include a mix of paved greenway and cross-country running.
Proceeds from the race will benefit Water for Good, a nonprofit dedicated to combating the water crisis in the Central African Republic through well drilling and well maintenance. Last year, the proceeds from the race co-funded four wells, giving clean water to four villages in the Central African Republic.
“It is exciting celebrating 15 years of helping to provide clean drinking water to the Central African Republic,” said Doug Koontz, event organizer. “Water for Good is expanding into new areas and it is fun being a part of it.”
In addition to Koontz, contributions from Community Animal Hospital, Miller Cattle Co., Fellowship Church, Synergy Partnerships, Barefoot Stickers, Dream on Studios, Orange Marketing Group, Silveus Insurance, Wildman, VerHage Heating and Cooling, Miller Sewer and Drain, LT Siding Window and Door, J Lane Flooring and Design, T-Zone Custom Apparel and Builders Mart help to make the race a reality.
