WARSAW — The Warsaw Area Career Center Building Trades program will be hosting an open house showcasing this year’s custom home build from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 23. The house is located at 2081 W. Blackberry Trail in the Blackberry Trace subdivision and is owned by Tom and Kathy Ray. All are welcome to attend.
This is the 42nd year for the Warsaw Area Career Center Building Trades Program. Twenty-one students worked on the home over the course of the 2023-2024 school year. The students were involved in framing, roofing, siding, window and door installation, dry walling, painting, trimming and concrete work under the direction of instructor Eric Taylor.
The students who worked on the home are: Randy Argumedo, Kelton Bennett, Miguel Cacahua, Diego Cuahuizo, Wyatt Dawson, Konner Fenix-Farias, Robert Finlinson, Ulises Herrera, Caden Holloway, Tucker Jones, Blake Keene, Pedro Lucas Perez, Matthew Marsh, Isaiah Martinez, Christofer Navarro Saldivar, Daniel Perales-Favela, Jude Peters, Melvin Pouch, Diego Sanchez, Roman Turpen and Tristan Wilson.
Warsaw Area Career Center is grateful to many vendors who helped to make the project possible: AccuCAD Drafting Service Inc., Brouwer’s Carpet, Builders Mart, Butt and Timmons Construction, Core Mechanical, German’s Painting and Drywall, Midwest Structural, Momper Insulation, Orr Cabinetry, Paulus Well Drilling, Schmucker Home Improvement, Site Solutions Excavating, Superior Garage Door and Warsaw Masonry Supply.
This home will be the final building trades project under the supervision of Taylor, who is retiring from education at the end of this school year. His career in construction has ranged from working with small independent contractors to being self-employed. In 2014, Taylor began teaching construction classes at the Warsaw Area Career Center and took over as the building trades instructor when Tom Heiman retired in 2016.
