Mentone Man Arrested For Allegedly Battering Woman

MENTONE — A Mentone man was arrested after allegedly battering a woman.

Nathan Bradley Whetstone, 28, 513 N. Tucker St., Mentone, is charged with domestic battery committed in the presence of a child and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery and resisting law enforcement, both class A misdemeanors.

On May 4, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a physical altercation at a Mentone residence. A woman said Whetstone was involved in the incident.

According to court documents, when officers attempted to take Whetstone into custody, he allegedly pushed away from a police vehicle and leaned against one of the vehicle’s doors.

The woman said she was attempting to calm Whetstone down after he had a disagreement with an individual. During the conversation, Whetstone tackled the woman to the ground, grabbing her shirt and holding her down. He also hit her right upper forearm and right eye with a closed fist. The deputy noticed a cut on the woman’s hand, as well as redness on her forearm and face.

A child at the scene witnessed the incident. The individual Whetstone had a disagreement with said she saw Whetstone push the woman into a vehicle.

Two additional witnesses also saw Whetstone push and grab the woman.

Whetstone has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
