WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools announces that, in partnership with the Warsaw Police Department, Kelly Bradley has been appointed as the School Resource Officer for Washington, Lincoln, Eisenhower and Harrison Elementary Schools.
WCS collaborates with the Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department to employ six SROs and additional roving officers who support our buildings throughout the day. These officers act as a safe presence by building relationships with students, deterring misconduct and conducting annual safety audits to ensure that WCS buildings, parking lots, and grounds are secure.
Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert shared, “Safety and security is the first and foremost priority within Warsaw Community Schools. This new addition to our SRO staff is a continuation of that commitment and follows positive feedback about our current officers across the district. We are thankful for the financial investment by both WCS and the Warsaw Police Department to create this position as a priority in our elementary schools.”
Bradley, originally from Illinois and a Penn High School graduate, began her law enforcement career after working in loss prevention. Hired by the Warsaw Police Department in June 2018, she served in the Patrol Division and since then has aspired to become an SRO. Bradley is passionate about building positive relationships with students and being a supportive presence in their daily lives.
Bradley stated, “My goal is to build positive associations with police for the children in our community by being a part of their daily lives. I hope to be someone the students feel comfortable speaking to when facing challenges. I believe a child can never have too many safe adults to talk to.”
Her experiences, both personal and professional, influence her approach to working with children and parents, ensuring they feel safe and supported. Bradley added, “I often tell my children, ‘My favorite thing in the world is being your mom,’ and I have a feeling this role will be a close second.”
