WARSAW — At the regular board meeting on Monday, May 20, Warsaw Community Schools administrators and board members celebrated the achievements of teachers, parents and community members.
First, the board honored this year’s class of Tiger Ambassadors, consisting of 15 selected community members, parents and industry partners. The Tiger Ambassador program offers behind-the-scenes insights into WCS through on-site field trips, lunch-and-learn meetings and job shadowing as principals. This year’s Tiger Ambassadors gained a deeper understanding of academic metrics of success, operations of transportation and food service, board member responsibilities, facility planning and school budgets. This is the second year of the program and a new group of Tiger Ambassadors will be welcomed in the fall.
Additionally, WCS recognized nine teachers who earned a Master of Arts in Education with a literacy concentration through Bluffton University. Utilizing ESSER grant funds, the 18-month degree program was offered to current WCS employees through an internal application process. This is the second cohort of Bluffton graduates; the last cohort had 25 teachers who graduated in May 2023.
“Warsaw Community Schools is excited to continue forward with our internal scholarship program,” shared Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert. “Over the last five years, over 150 WCS employees have been recipients of full scholarships for advanced degrees. These scholarships are life changing for both the recipient and the students then impacted from the gain of knowledge and skills. Congrats!”
