21 Warsaw High Students, Grads Receive Woodies Scholarships

WARSAW — Each year, Warsaw Community High School and college students who graduated from Warsaw Community High School are given the opportunity to apply for the Woodies Supermarket Scholarship Fund.

This year, 10 high school and 11 college students were granted scholarships totaling $20,000 to pursue their academic careers.

Woodies Supermarket Scholarship Fund was founded in 1978 by Woodie and Devota Schramm. Woodie Schramm was a businessman in Warsaw and Bremen and was the founder of Woodies Supermarkets. His wife, Devota Schramm, was a teacher at Atwood Elementary.

The scholarship fund has contributed approximately $986,500 to 1,554 Warsaw graduates since the fund’s inception in 1978. Sonya Hoskins, Woodie and Devota Schramm’s daughter, leads the Woodies Supermarket Educational Scholarship committee.
