MENTONE — Those who enjoy viewing antique farm machinery may see some at the annual Mentone Tractor, Engine, Garden Tractor Show and Swap.

It’s from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Mentone Airport, 12296 W. 600S.

Anyone is welcome to showcase tractors, farm trucks, construction equipment and other farming equipment by simply bringing it to the show, said Tiffany Adams, whose family runs the event which is in its fourth year.

People may contact Travis Adams with questions by calling (574) 376-0394 or emailing [email protected].

Along with the show, there will be kids’ activities and a blacksmith on-site.

New this year is a tractor drive. It starts at 5 p.m. Friday, with anyone welcome to drive on the countryside route by showing up by then, with tractors to travel at 10 mph.

The pedal pull tractor contest for kids returns at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, with a door prize raffle at 5 p.m. that day for vendors and exhibitors.

People may sell items by paying a vendor fee of $5 per day, with them able to reserve a spot by calling Tiffany at (574) 376-0347.

Food will be available, including homemade ice cream.

People may also camp at the site, with 50 spots open. Primitive camping is $10 per night, with camping with electric and water being $20 per night. There will be no dump station available.

Campers should call Tiffany at the above number to reserve a spot.

Tiffany said she hopes attendees come out “just to see agriculture as it was in days gone by.”

Last year approximately 500 people attended the event, said Tiffany.

She hopes that people see the “value of agriculture and community” by visiting the show and “slow down and talk to (their) neighbors.”
