WARSAW — A Fort Wayne man was arrested for allegedly battering and threatening a woman during two separate incidents.
Chad Christopher Rothrock, 40, Fort Wayne, is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, two counts of intimidation, and strangulation, all level 6 felonies; two counts of domestic battery and criminal mischief, all class A misdemeanors; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.
On April 8, an individual reported Rothrock had battered a woman. A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke with the woman about the incident.
According to court documents, the woman said Rothrock battered her on April 6 and threatened to kill her. She said Rothrock pushed her around, spit in her face, and threw his vape at her. The vape hit her leg, causing a bruise.
Rothrock also pushed the woman into a wall and items in the home, resulting in more bruises to her legs. He broke the woman’s cellphone during the attack.
On May 19, a KCSO deputy responded to a report of the woman being battered again by Rothrock. Upon arrival, the deputy saw the woman had a visible red mark on her face that appeared to be dried blood. When he entered the residence Rothrock was in, the deputy noticed the home was completely torn apart, with several of the walls having holes in them.
The woman said she had a verbal altercation with Rothrock on May 18, which turned physical when Rothrock slammed her to the ground several times, hit her with an open hand all over her body, and threatened to kill her multiple times.
Rothrock also allegedly placed his hand around the woman’s throat and squeezed her neck. The entire physical altercation lasted about three hours. Once the woman knew Rothrock was asleep, she called 911.
Rothrock told the deputy he had consumed alcohol and claimed to not remember anything after that. He denied physically harming the woman but admitted to punching a hole in a wall.
The damage caused by Rothrock to the woman’s residence was in excess of $750.
Rothrock has already been arrested and released on bond.
