WARSAW — A Claypool woman was recently arrested for allegedly helping an individual use counterfeit money at a Warsaw restaurant.
JoDean Marie Neher, 55, 9332 S. Verna St., Claypool, is charged with aiding, inducing, or causing counterfeiting, a level 6 felony.
On Nov. 24, 2023, a Warsaw Police officer spoke with the manager of the Arby’s location on North Detroit Street regarding a fraud investigation. The manager said she discovered the restaurant accepted two counterfeit $20 bills on Nov. 22, 2023.
On Dec. 1, 2023, a WPD officer responded to the Arby’s restaurant regarding a woman attempting to pay for her food by using counterfeit money. A restaurant employee said he could tell the money was counterfeit due to its feel and incorrect corners. The employee took the money to the restaurant’s manager.
According to court documents, when the manager confronted the woman about the money, she allegedly said the money was given to her through a Facebook Marketplace sale. The manager asked the woman to provide proof of the sale, but she was unable to provide that information and left the scene.
On Jan. 9, 2024, a Warsaw detective spoke with Neher about the counterfeit money. Neher said the woman had been printing counterfeit bills and that Neher was the one who cut them. Neher also told the detective she was with the woman when they used counterfeit money at the Arby’s restaurant.
The woman was charged but her case was later dismissed.
Neher was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 24.
