NORTH WEBSTER — Students in grades 6-12, get ready for a summer of mystery and adventure with the North Webster Community Public Library’s Teen Scavenger Hunt. Starting this summer reading season, a stuffed Big Foot creature will be hiding each week in different locations throughout downtown North Webster. Teens are invited to join the hunt for this elusive being.
Participants need to spot Big Foot, snap a picture as proof and bring their evidence to the front desk at the North Webster Library to claim a prize. Please do not move Big Foot so that he can be found by multiple players each week.
The hunt begins June 3 and will continue through July 12.
Weekly Library Events
The following activities are set to take place at North Webster Community Public Library. Attendees do not need to have a library card to participate in any of these events.
Adult Events
Join in for a needle felting class at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. Learn the art of needle felting as they craft adorable bees together. Whether you are a seasoned crafter or new to needle felting, this class is perfect for all skill levels. Class is free and all materials are provided, but registration is required. Roots & Branches Genealogy Club will be meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5. This month they will focus on ancestors’ travels to the New World in search of a better life. They will learn about different ports of arrival (Ellis Island was not the only one) and will learn how to find immigration records and other information about their immigrant ancestors.
Teen Events
Students in grades 6-12 are invited to contribute to a summer collaborative journal at NWCPL. Teens and tweens are invited to contribute by writing or sketching their thoughts. For more information, contact the library.
The Teen Summer Kick-Off will be happening at 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 3. Join in for some outdoor fun on the patio — they will have outdoor games, bubbles, crafts, snacks and more. No registration required.
Love to craft, but need the time and space to dedicate to it? Drop in for Teen Open Crafting at noon Tuesday, June 4. They will have supplies for friendship bracelets, along with some general craft supplies (or you can bring your own). If you have a specific craft in mind, email Elizabeth at [email protected] to see if they have the supplies you need. All creative projects are welcome. No registration required.
Children’s Events
Come play with blocks during the Purdue Extension’s Block Party at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3. Parents and children are invited to come play in this fun and engaging event for the whole family.
Stevens Puppets will be bringing the classic fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast” to the puppet stage at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5. Join in for a fun take on this story plus a behind the scenes look at how marionette puppets work.
Get ready to meet Smokey Bear and DNR park ranger Carly in this week’s Know Your Neighbor event at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6. Prepare to learn about Indiana native animals, camping and fire safety, plus chat with Smokey Bear who is celebrating his 80th birthday.
Enjoy a morning of outdoor excitement during Friday Fun Day at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7. Kids and families are invited to enjoy fun activities like bubble blowing, sidewalk chalk art, ring toss, corn hole and more. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors.
Saturday Craft Adventures will be happening from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8. Join in to create a dragon craft as well as contribute to a collaborative mural.
