Claypool Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Vehicle From Warsaw Business

WARSAW — A Claypool man was recently arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Warsaw business.

Jacob Aaron Whetstone, 32, 406 W. Section St., Claypool, is charged with auto theft, a level 6 felony.

On Dec. 15, 2023, a Warsaw Police officer responded to the theft of a vehicle at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The officer spoke with an employee, who said Whetstone rented a black 2023 Kia on Oct. 14, 2023.

According to court documents, Whetstone was supposed to return the vehicle on Nov. 13, 2023, but did not do so as of mid-December 2023.

On Dec. 18, 2023, a Warsaw officer found the stolen vehicle parked on Indiana Street. During the investigation, Enterprise employees said the vehicle’s keys had been returned via dropbox.

On Dec. 21, 2023, a Warsaw detective interviewed Whetstone about the theft. Whetstone said he had been living in the vehicle and drove it to California and back.

Whetstone was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 28, 2024.
