MARSHALL COUNTY — Jeffery M. Balmer, 49, Walkerton, died from injuries in an UTV collision Sunday, May 26. The crash was at approximately 12:32 a.m. in the 18,000 block of Fourth Road, near Walkerton.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department reports Balmer’s Polaris RZR UTV went off the north side of the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree. First responders gave aid to Balmer at the scene, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The collision is still under investigation, but alcoholic beverages and excessive speed are believed to have been contributing factors in the collision.
