Golf Outing Raises $12,600 For Beaman Home

WARSAW — The 32nd annual Beaman Home Golf Scramble netted $12,600 to support Beaman Home’s continued goal to provide essential services to domestic violence victims and their children. On Monday, June 3, 35 teams participated in this competition for a cause at Stonehenge Golf Club.

WakeSurf Winona finished the scramble in first place with a 55, 16 under par. Team members Rod Mayer, Caroline Mayer, Tad Nieter and Scott Woods were all presented a $50 Stonehenge certificate, a $50 Visa card and a bottle of wine.

There was a second-place tie with a 57, 14 under par. Those teams were Starc Engineers and Presby. A countback tie breaker determined Starc Engineers finished the day in second place. Team members Josh Schmucker, Zach Shambaugh, Brandon Aylor and Charlie Lisenbee were each presented with a $25 Winona Lake gift certificate and a box of golf balls.

All teams had options to pay for mulligans and a creative way to further the advancement of their ball on a day full of crazy antics. Bowen Center sponsored a hole where golfers paid to advance a remote-controlled car to improve their tee-off position. At the end of the day, Bowen Center presented Beaman Home with $2,076 raised by their RC challenge.

Other contests the players participated in were the longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. The longest drives were won by Chapman Smith and Nikki Lemon. The longest putt winner was Mike DeGeeter. Caroline Mayer and Bill Zimmer won the closest to the pin. All players were also given a chance to win a 2024 Grasshopper 623T Front Mount Riding Lawnmower sponsored by Kerlin Tractor & Motorsports for a hole in one.
