Four Fire Departments Respond to house fire

The garage on this tri-level home was destroyed by fire along with a portion of the home. The fire was reported at 10:09 a.m. today on Cherry Creek Lane, Warsaw.

WARSAW — Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, with a full assist from Pierceton and Winona Lake, along with tanker assist from Leesburg and Sidney, responded to a house fire at 10:09 a.m. today, June 15.

The fire was at 1615 S. Cherry Creek Lane.

Initially firefighters were advised of heavy smoke coming from a garage, but within minutes the garage was reported to be fully engulfed, with flames through the roof and a nearby tree catching fire.

WWFT Chief Joel Shilling reported at the scene, the fire in the tri-level home is under investigation as to the cause and extent of the damage.

Two occupants of the home were able to exit the home safely before firefighters arrived.

Winona Lake Police Department assisted with traffic control off Packerton Road, and Lutheran EMS provided any needed aid at the scene.

According to the county Beacon mapping system, the home is owned by Jessica and Daniel Manduka.
