WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District heard an update about the district’s vacant education outreach and marketing coordinator position during a Tuesday, June 18 meeting.
Leslie Williams, the district’s former coordinator, resigned to become a stay-at-home parent. However, the district did approve Williams working remotely for about 8 to 10 hours a week. Williams will assist with social media posts for the district, with KCSWMD Executive Director Tom Ganser emphasizing the importance of her doing so during the depot’s amnesty period for recyclable items.
With the coordinator position, Ganser said the district has received over 25 applicants and is currently going through the interview process.
At the depot, all accepted items are being taken free of charge for county residents until Friday, June 28. The amnesty period began on April 1. For April and May, Ganser said the depot had close to 2,000 customers drop off items.
The depot has received a lot of paints, chemicals, and electronics during the amnesty period. Ganser asked the district’s board to allow him to continue not charging customers for recycling chemicals, paints, and electronics when the period ends. The depot would charge for recycling bulbs. All of the aforementioned pricing may be readjusted if it has a significant impact on the depot’s revenue. The board approved Ganser’s decision.
The board’s next meeting is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16.
