WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested after allegedly failing to return to the Kosciusko County Work Release facility.

Ashly Danielle Johnson, 33, 403 N. Columbia St., Warsaw, is charged with escape, a level 5 felony.

On Feb. 20, Johnson was sentenced in Kosciusko Superior Court Three for vehicle theft. On April 15, Johnson was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court for narcotic drug possession. For each case, Johnson received a 1 1/2 year sentence, with six months executed and the remainder suspended on formal probation. Both sentences were ordered to be served back-to-back.

According to court documents, with her cases, Johnson was authorized to serve the executed part of her sentences in the Kosciusko County Work Release Program. Johnson was accepted into the program on April 10.

On May 1, law enforcement was notified about Johnson not returning to the work release center after being released to go to work. Work release staff said Johnson signed out of work release around 5:30 a.m. May 1. She left the facility in a vehicle registered to her boyfriend.

A relative of Johnson’s told work release staff she did not believe Johnson was going to return to work release due to a conversation she had with her. The relative said she was out looking for Johnson and had contacted Johnson’s boyfriend about her whereabouts.

Officers went to three different residences where Johnson could potentially be located, but she was not found.

Johnson was booked in KCJ on June 12.
