Winamac Man Arrested For Sexual Battery

ROCHESTER — A Winamac man was arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with women at a Fulton County restaurant and business.

Rickey A. Madlung, 72, Winamac, is charged with sexual battery, a level 6 felony; and battery, a class B misdemeanor.

On June 4, a Rochester Police officer responded to a call at a Taco Bell restaurant about an elderly man attempting to get female employees and customers to go into a bathroom with him.

According to court documents, prior to going to Taco Bell, the man went to Runnings Farm Store and attempted to inappropriately touch a female employee. He also allegedly inappropriately touched himself through his pants in front of the employee. Surveillance footage from the store showed the man, later identified as Madlung, attempting to touch the employee.

While speaking with Madlung, officers learned he grabbed a female employee by the hips at Taco Bell and attempted to pull her into a bathroom with him.

The Taco Bell employee said Madlung had been propositioning different female employees and a few female customers.

Madlung was trespassed from both Runnings and Taco Bell.

Madlung has prior arrests for public indecency and battery in Cass, Fulton, and Porter Counties.

Madlung has an initial hearing at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, in Fulton County.
