AKRON — Three girls are hoping to be named the 2024 Miss Akron 4th of July.
Miss Akron 2023 Rachel Luce will crown her successor on Sunday, June 30, at the Akron Community Center.
Events Sunday begin with the announcement of the Akron Las Donas Club’s Cute Baby Contest winners at 5:15 p.m., followed by the Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker competitions at 5:30 p.m. and the pageant afterward.
Miss Akron contestants this year in alphabetical order are: Sarah Finney, Madison Heinzmann and Brooklyne White.
Below is more information about each contestant:
Sarah Finney
Finney is the 17-year-old daughter of Scott and Shelly Finney.
She has an 11-year-old sister, Emme, and resides in Akron. Sarah is a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School.
During her senior year, she will serve as the senior class advisor for the National Honor Society, finish her fourth year of tennis and her 13th year of dance. She currently works at Webb’s Family Pharmacy and serves at Olive Branch Church on the worship team.
This summer Sarah has enjoyed a youth retreat, paddleboarding and spending time with her friends. She plans to attend college to earn her master’s in physical therapy, then come home to work locally.
Madison Heinzmann
Heinzmann is the 19-year-old daughter of Stephen and Staci Heinzmann.
She has one younger sister, Mylee. Madison will be a sophomore at Huntington University where she is active in softball, chapel, community service and the nursing department’s small Bible group.
She loves spending her free time outside in the sun, hanging out with her friends, going to concerts or playing softball. Madison works at The Flagpole in Rochester.
She also has umpired for softball leagues, sometimes for baseball, in the surrounding communities and served as camp counselor at for the Rochester Summer Parks Program, where she got to spend time with children and lead them through educational and recreational activities.
She loves spending time with her family and friends and being at the softball field watching her sister play softball. After college graduation, Madison plans on becoming a traveling registered nurse.
Brooklyne White
White is the 16-year-old daughter of Christopher and Emiley White.
She has three siblings: Colton, David and Grace. This coming school year, Brooklyne, of Rochester, will be a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School.
During the school year in the fall and winter, Brooklyne enjoys participating on the cheer team while umpiring some on the side. Her future goals include attending Indiana University in Bloomington to become a nurse.
After college graduation, Brooklyne plans on staying down towards Indianapolis to work at one of the main IU hospitals. Brooklyne also serves as the TVHS representative on the Fulton County Habitat for Humanity Board; she enjoys being able to help provide for the families in need of extra support.
