Goshen Theater Releases May Event Calendar

GOSHEN — The Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St., has released its May monthly event calendar. For more information, contact the Goshen Theater box office by calling (574) 312-3701 or by emailing [email protected]. Box office hours are 12-4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.

Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 19: Visual Arts Series: Goshen High School

The Goshen High School Art Department will be hosting its annual student Art Show at the Goshen Theater during May’s First Friday community event.

5-8 p.m. Friday, May 3: First Fridays: Maple City Orchestra

Join in the Miller Auditorium at Goshen Theater during First Fridays Downtown to hear the musical stylings of the Maple City Orchestra. Be sure to check out the artwork of Goshen High School students throughout the Lobby. Entrance is free but donations are encouraged at the door.

7 p.m. Friday, May 10: Free Movie Night: Footloose

Join in the Miller Auditorium at Goshen Theater for free movie night showing of “Footloose.”

Summary: Moving in from Chicago, newcomer Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon) is in shock when he discovers the small Midwestern town he now calls home has made dancing and rock music illegal. As he struggles to fit in, Ren faces an uphill battle to change things. With the help of his new friend, Willard Hewitt (Christopher Penn), and defiant teen Ariel Moore (Lori Singer), he might loosen up this conservative town. But Ariel’s influential father, Reverend Shaw Moore (John Lithgow), stands in the way.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the bar and concession stand will be open.

7 p.m. Saturday, May 11: Child’s Play by Camerata Singers

Join the Camerata Singers in the Miller Auditorium at Goshen Theater for their “Child’s Play” spring concert. Tickets are $18 for adults and $6 for students.

5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 16: Martinis and Music

Join in for this free monthly music and happy hour event. This event features singer-songwriter Abbie Thomas and Dora Mills from Elephant Bar as our guest bartender.

This event is produced in collaboration with WVPE. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase.

7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17: Moxie Events Presents: A Tribute Night to the Eagles

Out of Eden is a 6-piece tribute band based out of Northeast Ohio who have replicated the music and vocal harmonies of the legendary EAGLES, Don Henley and Joe Walsh. All of the EAGLES classic songs are performed with amazing talent, drive and skill by the Out of Eden band members.

Rock out to all of their top hits including: Hotel California, Desperado, Take it Easy, The Last Resort, Take it to the Limit, Already Gone, Tequila Sunrise, Lyin’ Eyes and more.

2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, May 18: DES Dance Spring Recital

Join as students aged 3-19 showcase what they have learned throughout the season. There are two performances, one at 2 p.m. and another at 6 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, May 11.

1 p.m. Sunday, May 19: Goshen Theater Education Department and GoProv: Improv Playtime for Adults

This session will focus on Improv Playtime for Adults. Life can be a challenge. Did you forget about the little kid you once were? Spend the day playing theatre and childhood games. Reinvigorate your life and remember how to laugh and play. Join in some clowning exercises and focus on being silly.

4 p.m. Sunday, May 19: pax duo & Friends

pax duo is a percussion project based in Goshen and Madison, Wisconsin. Their repertoire moves percussion music beyond the concert hall, incorporating lighting and electronics, and blending genres like indie, hip-hop and funk into a contemporary classical context.

Warning in the program that this performance involves the use of flashing lights.

6 p.m. Friday, May 31: Goshen Theater Drama Club: Spring Showcase

See the creative original works of the acting students, hear the vocal stylings of our musical theater students, and dance the night away with our Latin dance students.

Don’t miss this one night only performance by our local youth artists. The show begins at 6:00 p.m. Doors unlock at 5:15 p.m. and seating begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission.
