LEESBURG — A Warsaw man with two prior OWI convictions was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence.

Adrian Argumedo, 53, 3581 N. SR 15, Warsaw, is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangering a person, a class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.15 or more with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.

On April 28, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a report of an impaired driver traveling all over SR 15, in the Leesburg area. A person reported the driver nearly hit another vehicle head-on. One witness said several drivers had to leave the roadway in order to avoid hitting the impaired driver.

According to court documents, the officer found the suspect vehicle and saw it weave in its lane and cross the roadway’s center line. The officer pulled the vehicle over and identified its driver as Argumedo.

A woman in the vehicle said she and Argumedo had been drinking. Argumedo, who was showing physical signs of intoxication, said he consumed two or three beers prior to being stopped. Argumedo failed one field sobriety test and refused to participate in two others. He also refused to participate in a portable breath test and a certified chemical test.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Argumedo’s blood and administered a certified chemical test. A portable breath test at the Kosciusko County Jail showed Argumedo had a 0.16% BrAC.

Argumedo has two prior OWI convictions, both from 2020.

Argumedo has already been arrested and released on bond.
