WARSAW — A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a camera belonging to the Kosciusko County government.

Timothy L. Carter, 55, Huntertown, is charged with theft where the value of the property is between $750 and $50,000, a level 6 felony.

On April 27, a Warsaw Police officer was patrolling near Detroit Street and CR 350N when he noticed a camera with a mounting system belonging to the Kosciusko County Government was missing. The camera sends cellular notifications of captured photographs and is valued at $3,500.

A DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office deputy contacted Carter, who denied knowledge of the camera. Carter said he sold the Corvette but admitted to having a Chevrolet SS on his property. A search warrant was obtained for Carter’s property.

Several items located in the buildings on Carter’s property were captured by the camera and stored in its history. A Warsaw officer also found the Chevrolet Corvette on the property.

During a search of Carter’s cellphone, a Winona Lake Police officer found pictures of the camera with the mounting system.
