Disabilities Expo Set For Saturday In Fort Wayne

News Release

FORT WAYNE — Saturday, May 11, the AWS Foundation will host the 12th annual Disabilities Expo, a resource fair with 138 vendors with products and services for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, with free admission and parking available (mention “Disabilities Expo” for free parking).

“The Disabilities Expo has something for everyone,” said Andie Mosley, event coordinator. “Whether you’re looking for resources for yourself, a loved one or just want to learn how to be an ally, the day will be filled with information, entertainment and all-around fun.”

The expo will feature hourly entertainment, including adaptive sports demonstrations by Turnstone and performances by groups like the University of Saint Francis Jesters. Highlighting the day will be two special performances by David Lai, a pianist who is blind. In addition to entertainment, attendees can purchase art from disabled artists at the regional art exhibit and sale and enjoy the game center sponsored by Goodwill. For those who may get overstimulated at large events, My Autism Ally will provide a mobile sensory room. The Disabilities Expo uses the Conference Center entrance, so those who have trouble walking or wheeling far distances can be dropped off right at the door.

While specifically designed for those with disabilities, the Disabilities Expo welcomes all community members. For more information, visit disabilitiesexpoindiana.org.
