The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival Returns July 20-Sept. 1

NOTRE DAME — Tickets are now available for the the University of Notre Dame’s Shakespeare Festival, Saturday, July 20 to Sunday, Sept. 1.

ShakeScenes

By turns adorable, hilarious, and moving, “ShakeScenes” kicks off the 2024 Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, in the Leighton Concert Hall, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

A perennial community favorite from the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival’s Community Company, “ShakeScenes” features K-12 students from across Michiana performing scenes from and inspired by William Shakespeare.

“ShakeScenes” is free, ticketed event.

Shakespeare After Hours

Back at home at LangLab, “Shakespeare After Hours” returns with an all-new evening of unrestrained Shakespearean shenanigans 7 and 9 p.m. Friday, July 26, at 1302 High Street, SouthBend.

This adults-only night of boozy, bawdy fun highlights Shakespeare’s outrageous side, through performances from local artists and Notre Dame students of works drawn from and inspired by Shakespeare.

“As You Like It,”

The rules of romance are upended in “As You Like It,” a gloriously entertaining romantic comedy that gleefully interrogates traditional notions of gender, politics, and love.

“As You Like It” is brought to life under the direction of Sara Holdren, a multitalented theatrical director who’s also been a regular theatre critic for New York Magazine.

Matinee performances are at 2:30 p.m. and evening performances 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Patricia George Decio Theatre, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

“As You Like It” Opening Night Celebration

A Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival tradition, the Opening Night Celebration will kick off the “As You Like It” performance series in grand style at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. This exclusive event features catered food and drink inside the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center’s beautiful and expansive lobby.

Join us beginning at 6 p.m. and mingle with members of the “As You Like It” production team; the opening night performance follows at 7:30 p.m.
