Altrusa International Welcomes New Members

Altrusa International welcomes new Warsaw members.

WARSAW — Altrusa International of Warsaw met at Kosciusko REMC for its noon business meeting of the new fiscal year on Thursday, June 6. Twenty-two members were present.

Altrusa begins a new year each June 1 with new officers, directors and committee chairs.

Officers for 2024-25 are as follows:

  • President — Mary Garrett
  • Co-Vice Presidents — Susan Woodward and Vicky Patterson
  • Secretary — Beth Huffer
  • Co-Treasurers — Vicki Martin and Jan Sloan
  • Directors — Bev Faulkner, Lorie Krygier and Sharon Sanders

Vicki Martin will lead the finance committee, while Carol Vierling, Stephanie Booth and Vicky Patterson will co-chair the service committee. Membership will be led by Julie Hall and Bev Faulkner will chair the communications committee.

President Mary Garrett informed the club of a $100 award given by Altrusa District Six. The award was given in recognition of recruitment activities during the 2023-24 Altrusa year.

Marsha Powell and Shannon Peloza were officially welcomed as new members during an initiation ceremony conducted by Julie Hall, membership chair.

Paula Shalley won the monthly raffle prize provided by Vicky Patterson.

June opportunities for member involvement included the Beaman Home Golf Outing at Stonehenge, delivering Mobile Meals, assisting Kosciusko REMC with the drive-through portion of its annual meeting and participating in Ryan’s Case for Smiles at Lowery’s Sewing and Vacuum Center.

Following the business meeting, each committee met to discuss budget needs for the new fiscal year, plan service projects and member recruitment/retention activities.

Altrusa-Warsaw meets once a month in June, July and August. The next meeting will be at The Palette at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18.
